General Maintenance Technician
Job Details
Must have a great attitude, excellent organization and communication skills, a minimum of 1 year maintenance experience and a willingness to learn all aspects of construction. Your daily task include a variety of general skills including but not limited to basic plumbing, basic HVAC troubleshooting, basic electrical troubleshooting, light bulb changes, light carpentry, basic painting skills and drywall repairs. Staff member will receive service ticket work or be directed by a Supervisor on what tasks are to be accomplished daily. Working hours are typically Monday- Friday 8 AM - 430 PM with occasional overtime as needed to fulfill maintenance requirements or emergency repairs. Staff member will be expected to participate in the Facilities Department on-call program. Staff member will be required to work pre and post duty schedules as directed for hurricane or summer operations.
Responsibilities Include:
- Primarily working with painting and carpentry, you will be Perform a variety of general skilled and unskilled maintenance, construction and repair work on buildings and equipment.
- Work together with a team on signed asks or assist other trades as directed. Must demonstrate flexibility in daily duty assignments and be able to switch tasks as directed to support
- Answer service tickets as assigned, work from oral and written instructions. Utilize the service ticket electronic system using assigned i-pad. Regularly communicate with supervisor on job status and needs.
- Must have an excellent customer service attitude, ability to work with and support fellow staff members in accordance with HR policies and Department directives.
- Willing to learn and assist as needed with basic plumbing, basic HVAC troubleshooting, basic electrical troubleshooting, light carpentry and drywall repairs.
- Comply with safety directives, complete directed safety training. Use all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Emergency preparedness and support as directed.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements Include:
- High school diploma or GED
- 30 hour General OSHA Certification, preferred
- State of Florida driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record defined by Florida Tech's insurance company
- Minimum 1 year of experience
