Offer Description
The National Authority for Research organizes a competition for the position of General Manager of the National Institute for Earth Physics – NIEP Bucharest, in accordance with the provisions of Government Decision No. 743 of 18 September 2026 approving the Competition Methodology for filling the position of General Manager at national research and development institutes, published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, No. 804 of 22 September 2026.
The National Institute for Earth Physics – NIEP Bucharest is headquartered in the City of Magurele, 12 Calugareni Street, Ilfov County.
Its field/object of activity is to conduct fundamental and applied research concerning: seismicity monitoring and seismic hazard assessment, seismic source phenomenology and earthquake prediction, seismotectonic processes, the deep structure of the Earth, seismic microzonation, seismic risk assessment and reduction, the coordination at national level of seismology programs and participation in international projects concerning the study of seismic regions, as well as Romania's technical participation in activities supporting the implementation of the provisions of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, ratified by Romania through Law No. 152/1999, in accordance with the provisions of Government Decision No. 1313/1996 regarding the establishment of the National Institute for Earth Physics – NIEP Bucharest, published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, No. 330 of 9 December 1996, as subsequently amended and supplemented.
Candidates must cumulatively meet the eligibility requirements for participation in the competition provided for under Article 172 paragraph (1) of Law No. 183/2024 on the status of research, development and innovation personnel, as subsequently amended and supplemented.
The documents required for registration in the competition are those provided for under Article 9 of the Annex to Government Decision No. 743/2026 approving the Competition Methodology for filling the position of Director General at national research and development institutes.

Eligibility criteria
At least 3 years of experience in a management position within research organizations (in Romania or abroad) in the INCD’s specific field of activity or in a related research field, or has won through competition and completed at least two research projects—in Romania or abroad—with a cumulative budget managed as project director of at least 400.000 in a related research field.
