Georgia 4-H Camp Counselor
Position Summary
This job is a Camp Counselor in the Georgia 4-H Summer camping program, located at one of five 4-H Facilities across the state. Counselors are expected to create a safe and fun environment for campers to participate in experiential learning and recreational opportunities, primarily in an outdoor, natural setting. Counselors also plan and produce entertainment opportunities for campers and work to coordinate these activities with UGA Cooperative Extension Staff and other Center staff.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Independently lead classes and activities, sports and recreation opportunities, lifeguard for waterfront activities. (55%)
- Provide leadership and participate in large group recreation events. (15%)
- Produce and provide entertainment for large groups. (10%)
- Participate in meetings and trainings. Kitchen patrol, clean-up of grounds and facilities or other light maintenance duties. (15%)
- Assist with sales in the canteen. (5%)
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification
American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, CPR certification and AED certification or willingness to obtain.
Physical Demands
This is a highly rigorous position with physical activities including but not limited to daily walking of three to four miles. This position is mostly outdoors in the extreme heat of June and July for extended periods of time.
