Geriatrics Researcher
The Division of Geriatrics is recruiting an investigator with research accomplishments in aging and experience in the following areas: improving the quality of life for patients with cardiovascular disorders and cancer by improving vascular control mechanisms of skeletal muscle blood flow and exercise tolerance.
The Division of Geriatrics works closely with the VA Salt Lake City Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC). Primary duties will include working on currently funded research projects, pursuing future grants, and teaching students, house staff, and fellows. This position may be supported through a joint appointment with the VA Salt Lake City Healthcare System GRECC.
The Division of Geriatrics began in 1986 and has experienced steady growth ever since. Thanks to the creativity and leadership of its founding Chief, Gerald Rothstein, MD, geriatric medicine has become a part of the academic and clinical fabric of the University of Utah School of Medicine and is an integral part of the Department of Medicine.
Today, the Division is home to full-time faculty members, and staff members, and trains pre- and post-doctoral trainees each year. To advance the understanding of the causes and consequences of aging, our faculty investigators are supported by successful research funding and securing external grants. Division faculty provide training for the next generation of physicians, other healthcare providers, and research investigators. As the population of our state and nation ages, the Division of Geriatrics strives to build on this foundation and will continue to produce outstanding researchers, educators, and clinicians.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. and an established or early-stage research career with acquired funding.
