Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Gift Accounting Specialist. This position is responsible for accurately processing a high volume of sensitive information in connection with gifts received for the support of the University; update of donor information; timely acknowledgement to donors and reporting to internal and external parties. It is imperative to perform all functions with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality. This position also requires the ability to work under deadline pressure with attention to detail and accuracy always as a primary goal. During peak times, some overtime may be required.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily processing of both gift and non-gift revenue for the UNG Foundation and the Alumni Association and entry into the database management system. This includes over 9,000 annual transactions of online giving, recurring gifts, payroll donations, matching gifts (process forms), stock gifts, gifts-in-kind, and membership processing for the Foundation and Alumni Association (handling payments and ensuring appropriate renewals), in accordance with all IRS and GAAP accounting regulations. Must adhere to the nonprofit Donor Bill of Rights in handling confidential information with sensitivity, integrity, and accuracy. Communication with Advancement Office Development Officers and external donors will be required to ensure accurate entry of gifts.
- Prepare timely donor letters, acknowledgments, and receipts for all gifts within 48 hours after gift has been received. Process all honor/memorial gifts with appropriate notifications to honoree or family of honoree.
- Manage pledges, matching gifts and planned gifts, including but not limited to posting new pledges, matching gifts, and planned gifts; applying pledge and matching gift payments; monthly processing pledge reminders; maintaining pledge forms for annual Foundation audit process; and processing receipt of planned gifts.
- Update and/or establish donor records as appropriate and in accordance with database protocol. Track gift appeals and solicitors to provide accurate reporting for Advancement development team and management. Coordinate with Data Analyst to insure that information in the database is current, accurate and complete.
- Generate weekly gift reports, end of year letters, pledge reminder letters, and other reports as needed. Maintain and update both print and web forms for payroll deductions and pledges. Updates and documents policy and procedures following AASP best practices
- Assist with Foundation and Alumni event preparation, mailings and other duties as requested by Director of Advancement Services.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, and strict adherence to data confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years college required in Business related field, or Equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years with bookkeeping or data entry function, and/or experience working with the business segment of a non-profit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Raiser's Edge certification a plus.
- Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge software is preferred.
