The Oxford Department of International Development (ODID) is seeking to recruit a Global Communications and Engagement Officer who will be working within the Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH) to strengthen connections across our global network of learners, researchers, and partners. The right-fit candidate for this role will use thoughtful communications approaches to cultivate an inclusive and vibrant community among 1500+ RLRH affiliates, where everyone experiences connection and support in their academic and professional journeys. The appointed individual will work closely with the RLRH’s programmatic leads to develop and implement excellent, affiliated-centred communication strategies using a wide range of channels, platforms, and approaches, and provide support in designing tailored community enrichment programming to RLRH programmatic pillars that encourages affiliates’ regular and active participation.

It is expected that the postholder will work from the RLRH’s office in Oxford for a minimum of four days each week alongside other RLRH and RSC colleagues. Travel to other RLRH offices will be an important part of this role, weaving narratives between teams and across geographies.

This is a fixed-term, full-time appointment for 12 months.

The successful candidate will have a master’s degree or equivalent in international development, refugee/migration studies, communications, or in a highly relevant field in the Social Sciences or Humanities. They will also have experience in project coordination and management, with excellent organisational skills and timeline management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analysis, and report writing are essential for this role.

At ODID we embrace and cherish our differences, and endeavour to be considerate and welcoming of all. You are most welcome at ODID, without the need to hide any part of who you are. We acknowledge societal inequalities and how these affect us, and those around us, personally and professionally. We hold an Athena Swan bronze award in recognition of our efforts to introduce organisational and cultural changes which promote equality, cherish diversity and create a better working environment for all. We are also taking active steps to promote race equality and reduce the risk of bias and discrimination. We work together to enrich, fortify and grow our community and dedicate our combined efforts to teaching and research to increase our impact and influence in development debates at the national and global level. We encourage all eligible candidates to apply for our vacancies and join us in pursuing our goals.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.

Only applications received before 12 midday on Thursday, 2 April 2026 can be considered.
