The Global Fellow will explore the relevance of her legacy to contemporary discussions on gender and faith, engaging with themes that intersect historical, cultural, and theological perspectives.
The Global Fellows position is housed within the Comparative Humanities program in the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Habib University.
About the Lady Fatima Endowed Chair
The Lady Fatima Zahra Endowed Chair in Women & Divinity at Habib University is the first chair in the world to be named after Lady Fatima Zahra—a woman of the highest virtues who has set a lasting example for women around the world for centuries, regardless of their religious inclinations. Housed in Habib University’s Comparative Humanities Program, the Chair will institutionalize the religious studies component of the program and promote the scholarly study of the role of women, femininity, and divinity in Muslim traditions and beyond.
Habib University is seeking a Global Fellow who will assist the faculty chair in advancing research on the legacy of Bibi Fatima Zahra (a.s.) and its relevance to contemporary discussions on gender and faith. The Fellow will work closely with the Chair on various intellectual engagements—such as public lectures, annual conferences, and the publication of a scholarly journal on women and divinity. In addition, the Fellow will contribute to curriculum enrichment by assisting the Chair in designing and delivering specialized courses relevant to the Chair’s theme, while also enhancing existing programs with an interdisciplinary approach.
