Governance Manager (Internal Applicants Only)
The University is looking for an accomplished administrator to support the University's governance processes. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a range of colleagues across the University, including the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellors and Senior Officers, and with exposure to key areas of business in a world-leading University.
Based within the Governance and Compliance Division, your role will sit within the governance team and provide high-level support for a portfolio of central University committees. Your main work on taking the role will be to support the General Board of the Faculties, the body responsible for the academic and educational policy of the University. You will work closely with the Academic Secretary, who serves as the Board's Secretary, and the Head of Governance Support Services, to whom you will report, to manage committee business, prepare papers (including some drafting work), and brief committees' chairs and other senior colleagues.
You will undertake a range of governance projects within the Division, including the development and implementation of University-wide policies and other governance documents supporting the University's operations; and the management of strategic project work (such as reviews). You will work with colleagues throughout the Division, and, as you gain experience, you will provide expert advice on governance matters to senior University officers and colleagues. Your portfolio of committees may evolve over time, providing you with opportunity for growth within the role.
To thrive in this role, you need to be an excellent oral and written communicator, with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise confidently with staff at all levels and to convey an authoritative view to stakeholders and gain the confidence of others over whom you have no direct responsibility. You will also need excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage a brief which covers a wide range of activities. You will be educated to at least a first degree level (or equivalent), ideally with experience of either governance or HE administration.
Additional information regarding the role may be found within the further particulars. This role is advertised to internal applicants only in the first instance.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 15 February.
Your application should clearly set out how you meet the criteria listed in the person profile (the skills and experience required for the role) along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted based upon these criteria.
