Graduate Assistant for Esports (Beg Fall 2026)
Job Summary
Key responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Program Operations and Facility Management (40%)
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Esports Arena, including equipment maintenance, scheduling of practices, coordination with IT staff, and ensuring a high-quality environment for student-athletes.
- Event and Competition Management (25%)
- Assist in the planning and execution of varsity-level Esports competitions and tournaments, including technical setup, match coordination, live-stream support, and ensuring a professional experience for players and spectators.
- Content Creation, Steaming, and Marketing (20%)
- Support the creation of digital and promotional content for the Esports program, including live-stream overlays, video highlights, graphics, and social media campaigns to promote student engagement and program visibility.
- Coaching and Player Development Support (15%)
- Collaborate with the coaching staff to support practice plans, review game footage (VOD), provide strategic insights, and contribute to player development initiatives.
Note: Percentages may adjust depending on the competitive season, tournament schedule, or special program initiatives.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends aligned with Esports competitions and events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in competitive Esports programs, tournaments, or team management.
- Knowledge of live-streaming platforms (Twitch, YouTube, Discord) and streaming software.
- Skills in graphic/video editing tools (Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Canva, etc.).
- Understanding of PC hardware, gaming peripherals, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Strong organizational, communication, and team collaboration skills.
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
