Description
Gustavus Adolphus College, an NCAA Division III institution, and a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) invites applications for a Graduate Assistant Track and Field Coach with the department of Athletics.
The Graduate Assistant Track and Field Coach will possess a proven ability to coach as well as recruit the best possible student-athletes. The responsibilities of the position include coaching in at least one of the areas of sprints, hurdles, high jump, multis and throws. Preferred event experience and/or coaching in throws, but regardless of event(s) all candidates will be considered.
Employment Status: Part-Time (0.5 FTE), Exempt (Salaried), Non-Benefits Eligible
Salary Range: $20,000 annually
Anticipated start date: August 1, 2026
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in planning and executing daily practices, game strategy, and athlete development
- Contribute to the technical and tactical development of student-athletes, emphasizing skill progression, teamwork, and character
- Foster a positive team environment that aligns with the values and vision of the Gustavus Track & Field program
- Assist with recruiting efforts, including evaluating prospective student-athletes, attending events, and participating in on-campus visits
- Support student-athlete academic success and monitor academic progress
- Maintain compliance with NCAA Division III, MIAC, and Gustavus policies and procedures
- Contribute to team operations, including travel coordination and driving large vans during competition season
- Represent the program and College in a professional and ethical manner
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics Department
Prerequisites
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree, as well as acceptance/admittance into a graduate program
- Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA Division III, MIAC and Gustavus Adolphus College governing rules and regulations
- Ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with student-athletes and coaching staff
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel with the team as required
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with a computer and Microsoft Office Suite products
Preferred Qualifications:
- Collegiate track and field experience
- Experience with Strength and Conditioning for track and field athletes
