Job Description
The Department of Psychological Sciences in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to support our graduate programs and students. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth operations, from recruitment through graduation.
The Student Support Specialist provides technical and clerical support to graduate students, faculty members, the Chair, the Director of the Clinical Training Committee, and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Psychological Sciences. Responsibilities include maintaining and summarizing academic and fiscal records, assisting with the recruitment of new students, and supporting current graduate students throughout their academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain records on all graduate students and assist the Director of Graduate Studies with summarizing data for faculty members and campus administrators.
- Maintain academic records for Clinical graduate students and assist the Director of the Clinical Training Committee with compiling and summarizing data for accreditation purposes.
- Coordinate with fiscal and human resources staff regarding graduate student appointments, funding arrangements, fellowship applications and renewals, and related processes.
- Assist with graduate recruitment activities, including communication with prospective students, coordinating campus visits, participating in recruiting events, and supporting departmental recruiting initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between the MU Graduate School and the Department of Psychological Sciences for the Director of Graduate Studies, faculty members, and students.
- Assist graduate students with processes such as registration, degree milestones, and graduation requirements.
Shift
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
One year of clerical experience, including experience with computer databases (e.g., Excel or Access) is required. Prior experience in an academic setting is preferred.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Anticipated Hiring Range: $17.50-23.37 per hour
