Job Description:

Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $57,151 - $60,000

The Office of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions at Binghamton University (SUNY) seeks a student-focused professional with knowledge of marketing trends and strategies and experience in recruitment or admissions in higher education for the position of Graduate Recruitment and Engagement Specialist to promote the values and strengths of Binghamton University's graduate programs to prospective students.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment, this professional recruiter and engagement specialist will assist the University with marketing and promotion of its graduate degree programs. The individual will identify foreign and domestic institutions for promising talent and implement a recruiting strategy that increases the diversity, quality and enrollment in the University.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a dynamic and motivated individual with effective interpersonal and public speaking skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic, tactical, and operational marketing recruitment plan including: Representing the University professionally and ethically at international and domestic recruiting events, conferences and meetings, traveling independently as well as part of a delegation;
  • Working on the development of a graduate recruitment strategy for the University with the office's Director, Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment, and other team members; coordinating and executing recruitment strategies targeted at current Binghamton University students;
  • Researching and identifying target markets and recruiting venues, analyzing trends and assessing effectiveness of recruitment events;
  • Utilizing the Universities technology tools, including but not limited to, the Slate CRM and SAS Analytics to promote graduate programs via inquiry forms, communication streams, and to enable informed decisions regarding recruitment strategies.
  • Advance innovative recruitment techniques and marketing methods to develop, plan, organize and execute a nationwide recruitment program.
  • Coordinating social media strategies that target key constituents globally and in the United States in coordination with Communications and Marketing personnel, including generating content and reviewing recruitment materials by seeking input from key constituents;
  • Collecting and evaluating feedback and data to inform recruitment materials and campaigns;
  • Employing effective and professional communications/marketing skills, generate and respond to inquiries, provide consistent and professional recruiting information and communicate proactively with partner universities, schools and recruitment organizations in a timely manner;
  • Establishing and maintaining a dynamic, cooperative relationship with feeder institutions and campus leadership, professional schools' Dean's Offices, graduate directors and graduate program staff, faculty and staff and key partners on campus, such as the Graduate School, Communications and Marketing, International Student and Scholar Services; and assigned program liaison areas.
  • Delivering marketing and promotional presentations to diverse audiences domestically, internationally, virtually and through key partners.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher)
  • Effective customer service, interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to be culturally adaptable and work well in diverse environments and with diverse clientele
  • Experience reporting and analyzing data
  • Ability to work well under pressure and balance competing priorities
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to learn and use new technology, including social media and university systems
  • Ability to work non-standard / varied working hours
  • Ability to travel extensively (domestically and internationally) independently, and must possess the required documentation to do so

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (or higher)
  • Professional experience working in higher education, recruitment or admissions
  • Familiarity with graduate application processes and requirements
  • Experience with Slate or similar CRM tool
  • Experience in relationship management
  • Experience with graduate recruitment practices and fairs/events
