Graduate Teaching Assistant for Instrumental Music (Beg Fall 2026)
Job Summary
Key responsibilities for this role include the following:
- Supports 4-5 wind- and percussion-based concerts a term, performing and managing logistics performed by SAs and music service organizations (30%);
- Completes routine work of rehearsal and concert preparation including maintaining specialized library, checking in and out music, and instrument inventory, maintenance and repair (40%);
- Assists recruiting, such as at the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) annual conference and for on-campus events (10%);
- Mentors and assists undergrad education, especially ensemble courses and also other related music courses as time allows (20%)
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
- Bachelor's degree in Music from an accredited institution.
- Be enrolled full-time in the UWG MM program with a wind, brass, or percussion performance concentration during the assistantship period.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
- Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications

Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your graduate tuition to $25 per semester plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
