Grant Development Specialist 2- MCG-Vascular Biology Center
Job Summary
The Grant Development Specialist 2 is responsible for comprehensive administrative services including research administration, budgetary and financial management, project planning and development, purchasing and procurement administration, general administrative and ensuring compliance with regulatory policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage ~35+ departmental accounts including state, sponsored, and incentive funds; budget development, processes to track fiscal activity, ensuring items are allocated in accordance with budget assignments and federal, state, university, and sponsor requirements. Responsible for modifications, restrictions of spending, and/or reallocation of funds. Approve expenditures, maintain, and reconcile accounts monthly. Prepare and provide monthly financial analysis of accounts and projections to support existing and planned operations and reliable reports to leadership. Allocate P-Card purchases in Works.
- Follow grant lifecycle from submission to final funding reports. Interpret funding opportunity announcements to establish a feasible budget for staff, conference attendance, supplies & equipment, and F&A costs. Prepare and compile grant application documents according to agency requirements for VBC Predocs, Postdocs, Junior faculty & Principal Investigators utilizing agency systems for submissions to agencies such as NIH, DoD, AHA, ADA, JDRF and ALA. Coordinate with other institutions/entities to develop and submit subcontracts. Prepare annual financial/progress reports and budget for awards. Submit through agency portals Proposal Central, eRA Commons, InfoEd, Department of Defense, AHA. Prepare and submit grant closeout reports consistent with university and agency processes and timelines. Facilitate the transfer of grants or change of grantee across institutions to include equipment purchased, grantee application, working with Sponsored Programs, processing protocols with IRB, animal, biosafety, chemical safety & radiation safety, working with PI to determine changes in research objectives or facilities and resources. Communicate with PIs on updates/new requirements announced by funding agencies.
- Serve as primary contact with Post Award on grant expenditures; prepare and process Budget Amendments, ATBs, and Cost Transfers as needed. Process lab orders and invoices; controlled substances; Lab Equipment Services invoices.
- Serve as key member to the department's research management team, monitor compliance and audit activities; guide staff award procurement, liaise with Purchasing, Financials, Asset Management, IT as needed.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or related field with three years of experience in business, finance, accounting or other related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong accounting, prioritization, management and organizational skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently with only limited supervision, complete work and meet deadlines.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary: $56,600-$68,050 annually.
Pay Band: B11
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
