Grants Analyst I or II
Context of the Job
The College of Health Sciences is seeking a Grants Analyst I or II to join our team. The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is one of ten colleges and schools at the University of Delaware that collectively hold a Carnegie R1 classification. With annual research expenditures of approximately $20 million, the college currently houses a number of large, interdisciplinary grants.
The Grants Analyst II for CHS conducts financial management tasks for all assigned sponsored research portfolios. With minimal direction, they manage proposal and budget development and oversee post-award activities such as account setup, expense tracking, and reporting.
Major Responsibilities
- With minimal supervision, manage sponsored project portfolios from pre-award to post-award, including proposal development, budget management, annual reporting and sponsor compliance
- Prepare financial reports, analyze budget variances, and support project financial activities, including monthly reports and budget changes
- Provide guidance and support to faculty on sponsored research financial and budgetary activities
- Assist with training and mentoring of new Grants Analyst I
- Develop and implement policies to improve budget processes and ensure timely closeout of grants and contracts

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience in academic research administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated skill and experience in federal, state, and foundation budget preparation, contract/grant management, and financial/budget planning in an academic setting
- Proficient in advanced spreadsheet, database, financial management systems, and relational databases
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft Grants processing software preferred
- Strong organizational, writing, and multitasking skills with attention to detail
