Grants and Contracts Management Senior Analyst
Oversees and manages pre- and post-award activities for assigned principal investigators with minimal direction; plans and provides fiscal management of grants; plans, manages and supervises pre- and post-award activities; administers and implements project budgets; reviews, analyzes and reconciles project fiscal reports identifying and resolving discrepancies; reviews and approves expenses for appropriateness as stipulated by sponsor guidelines; researches, monitors and recommends funding opportunities to principal investigators; identifies project over-runs and alerts principal investigator; monitors, reviews, authorizes project expenditures; oversees personnel appointments on projects; determines and initiates journal entries; investigates and develops working relationships with state and federal funding agencies and sponsors; investigates, evaluates and notifies principal investigators of funding opportunities; provides extensive support with development and preparation of grant proposals, preparation and submission of research progress reports; collaborates with PIs and funding sources to develop and prepare appropriate budgets for research activities; provides economic forecasts to aid PIs with strategic planning of research programs; advises and collaborates with PIs with effort certification and personnel appointments on grants; ensures compliance with sponsor, university and third party regulations; interprets complex rules, regulations, policies, review contract terms and conditions from sponsor; applies advanced knowledge of university and federal regulations in order to facilitate the high volume of international collaboration and travel; interprets complex regulations, rules and policies; participates with training of new PIs and their staff; performs forecasts to help with planning; directs and oversees close-out of grants; oversees sponsor invoicing activities and payment recognition; delegates and supervises entry of financial data for invoicing, payment recognition and cost analysis purposes; actively participates in the recruitment training new grants team staff. creates, reviews and updates principal investigator orientation and training materials; attends relevant national or regional professional development conferences; provides advice and guidance to ensure the operations comply with policies and guidelines set forth; interprets complex regulations, rules, and policies; keep apprised of increasingly complex sponsor requirements; researches, gathers, composes and updates background and 'boilerplate' information as needed on the CCC website for incorporation into proposals.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors level degree in related field (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Health Administration); extensive experience 4+ years in research administration required, 4-8 years experience preferred; extensive grant or contract management experience required; knowledge/experience with, federal or private agency sponsors, experience in a fiscal management capacity desired; experience searching for funding sources desired; contract/grant regulations, procurement, budgeting, accounting and financial management required; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Pro and Excel required; experience in writing administrative components of grants preferred; contract negotiation experience desired; experience with electronic research administration tools & systems (e.g. Grants.gov, FastLane, ProposalCentral) strongly desired; familiarity with Workday system desired; knowledge of OSU Office of Sponsored Programs policies & procedures desired; demonstrated success in performing meticulous, high-quality, and compliant work desired; strong organizational skills required; certification as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) desired.
