Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Administration & Finance for several programs in the Department of Psychiatry, the Grants Coordinator B will be responsible for sponsored program post-award accounting, recordkeeping and compliance, and related day-to-day business operations for faculty. Will also assist with the preparation, review and submission of sponsored research grant proposals and other pre-award activity.

Job Description

The Grants Coordinator B will provide pre and post-award sponsored research and financial administration support for investigators within the Department of Psychiatry. Will work with limited supervision under the Administration & Finance Manager for the Mood, Anxiety & Trauma Section. Portfolio includes grants and contracts from NIH, DOD, foundations, and industry-sponsored clinical trials.

Responsibilities include proposal preparation, budget development, subcontract setup and monitoring, transaction approval and monitoring, financial and progress reports, and business services for research investigators. Function as resource for sponsored program guidelines, policies and procedures.

Monitor and correct grant expenditures; maintain documentation; prepare monthly expense reports for review. Prepare budgets & admin sections of research proposals and progress reports, especially for NIH grants. Must maintain a strong knowledge base of NIH regulations and policies.

Requires strong bookkeeping background, proficiency in Excel and budget projections. Requires knowledge of federal grant regulations (Uniform Guidance) and Grants.gov/NIH proposal development and progress report instructions.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in accounting or other business field and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in general bookkeeping practices is required. Strong Excel skills are required. Experience with PennERA, BEN Financials, Workday, Business Objects, and University guidelines/policy is preferred. Familiarity with the Uniform Guidance and federal granting agency regulations, especially NIH, strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required. Ability to work independently, under pressure of deadlines, and ability to demonstrate attention to detail and a proactive work style are required.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
