Grants Manager
Job Description
Montgomery College, Central Services, has an immediate need for a Grants Manager in the Advancement - Development department. The work schedule is Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 33 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, belonging, and inclusiveness. Under supervision and/or direction, the position provides professional leadership for proposal development and other grant related activities across internal departments and with external agencies and partner organizations, including other educational institutions, non-profit organizations, professional associations, and individuals. Works with deans, department chairs, directors, faculty, staff, federal and state program officers, and other partners across a wide array of organizations.
The work consists of professional, administrative, informational, and technical duties applied to a variety of work activities requiring analysis, planning, and development to produce grant proposals and other final products. Receives general assignments and takes all necessary steps to produce the final product by determining the nature of the product to be provided, using the necessary resources including staff and ensuring that the final product meets requirements in accordance with applicable laws, policies, rules, and procedures.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Manage systems and timelines for grant development and administration, ensuring adequate time for internal review and approval processes
- Promote awareness and understanding of grant funding opportunities and processes across the College
- Research and disseminate information on public and private funding opportunities
- Lead cross-functional teams to develop competitive grant proposals aligned with institutional priorities
- Provide guidance to project directors and principal investigators on grant writing, program design, budgeting, and evaluation
- Write, edit, and finalize grant proposals, including budgets and supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with funding requirements
- Collaborate with the Office of Business Services on budget development, review, and approvals
- Support project implementation and ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions
- Deliver training and technical assistance on grant management, including compliance, reporting, and financial stewardship
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on grant negotiations, awards, and modifications
- Assist in developing and delivering grant-related training for faculty and staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field
- Five years of experience in grant writing and grants administration
- Demonstrated knowledge of grant development, budgeting, financial analysis, and project management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and confidentiality
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Hiring Range: $86,709 - $119,224 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $151,740.
