About This Opportunity
The Grants Officer is a critical partner to the University’s research community, supporting the academic endeavour by enabling the delivery of high quality, competitive and compliant grant applications.
Working in a fast‑paced environment, you will manage multiple funding opportunities simultaneously and deliver with accuracy at speed and scale. The role requires strong coordination and prioritisation to manage workloads aligned to immovable deadlines.
A core aspect of the role is active engagement with researchers, including delivering workshops, information sessions and resources to support understanding of funding opportunities and processes.
Key responsibilities will include:
Expert Advisory & Compliance
- Deliver high-level, consistent advice on funding body guidelines and agreements, ensuring all applications are eligible and strictly compliant with both sponsor and University requirements.
Strategic Writing & Editing
- Enhance the quality of research submissions by providing expert writing and editing support for grant schemes of strategic importance, ensuring content is compelling and precise.
Workflow & Stakeholder Management
- Manage the end-to-end pre-award lifecycle, coordinating communication between researchers and funding bodies while proactively engaging with academic and professional staff to drive successful outcomes.
Data Integrity & Reporting
- Maintain and monitor accurate grant records to facilitate institutional reporting and performance analysis, identifying and resolving workflow issues to ensure all deadlines are met.
About You
You will be proactive and improvement‑focused, with a strong interest in refining processes, streamlining workflows and identifying smarter ways of working to enhance support for research excellence
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in grant review or editing within a research or policy environment. You possess the skills required to produce concise, persuasive content that aligns with complex instructions.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply complex policies and procedures. You use sound judgment and initiative to navigate non-routine issues and recommend solutions.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality, customer-focused services. You are adept at negotiating and exercising diplomacy with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong data interpretation skills, with the ability to maintain accuracy and exercise sound judgement when working with complex information.
- Ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines. You are highly organised and capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision.
- A strong continuous‑improvement mindset, with demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies, propose practical solutions, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of systems, workflows and service delivery.
You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
