General Statement of Duties
The full-time entry-level graphic arts technician works as part of the design and printing team in Publications and Printing Services with a focus on designing digital materials and content and supporting duplication services as needed. This entry-level design position works collaboratively with the Director of Publications and Printing Services to identify and create digital design solutions that meet the needs of the university community. The graphic arts technician will be responsible for helping the Publications and Printing Service Quick Copy section of the print shop.
This is a fully on-campus, front-facing customer service role, responsible for interfacing with staff, faculty, and other departments across the university, and will perform related work as required.
Responsibilities

- (E) Creates graphic designs using Adobe's Creative Cloud programs including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop with both digital and print design.
- (E) Creates original designs following best practices of digital design, typography, layout, and design using a Macintosh computer; all artwork created becomes the sole property of Worcester State University.
- (E) Works with the Office of Communications and Marketing to ensure consistency in university brand and public image.
- (E) Manages and tracks all aspects of quick copy and design projects, from time of design request to delivery of materials.
- (E) Responsible for the printing and fastback finishing work of the daily quick copy requests.
- (E) Proofreads typed material for accuracy, and completeness and works with the Communications Office for editorial revisions.
- (E) Manages and organizes all design project files on P&P Macintosh file server in a timely manner; updates department design job log(s) in Google Sheet.
- (E) Operates office machines and equipment such as production B&W and color copiers, large format printers, computers, telephone systems, calculators, binders, hand collators, perforators, folders, shredders, or similar equipment.
- (E) Responsible for the recording, printing and finishing work of quick copy requests in Google Sheet.
- (E) Explain the copyright fair use laws, rules, policies, and procedures governing assigned unit activities.
- (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students.
- (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan.
- (E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the Graphic Arts Technician classification.
