Graphic Design Instructor - Part-time Adjunct Pool

Kern Community College District is seeking applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary is $66.00 per hour.

Basic Function

Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Applications remain active for up to two years.

Representative Duties

This assignment may include teaching at various Kern Community College District locations such as Bakersfield College Main Campus, Delano Campus, and others. It involves day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and using multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include maintaining subject matter currency, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multimedia technology, and participating in departmental activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience. The professional experience must be directly related to the teaching assignment. Alternatively, equivalent qualifications may be considered. A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students is required.

• Ability to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to develop curriculum, participate in recruitment and articulation activities, communicate effectively, maintain subject matter currency, assess student learning outcomes, and use computers and new technologies.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
