Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary

This position will lead a dedicated team in maintaining and enhancing the beauty, safety, and functionality of campus outdoor spaces. This role blends hands-on expertise with leadership-overseeing daily landscaping operations, coordinating seasonal projects, event preparation and ensuring that every lawn, garden, pathway, and recreational area reflects high campus standards.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Oversees the daily activities of grounds personnel and contractors.
• Directs turf maintenance, irrigation, and landscape maintenance operations.
• Directs greenhouse operations.
• Inspects plant materials, trees, shrubs and indoor plants for insect and other infestations and responds accordingly.
• Contributes to and directs new landscape construction jobs; researches appropriate plant species.
• Coordinates and implements ice and snow removal operations.
• Inspects all exterior areas for life safety issues.
• Assists in preparations for special events.
• Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates and disciplines personnel.
• Works as a team member and is supportive to the other supervisor positions within the Physical Plant.
• Works to develop and maintain a campus landscape master plan.
• Performs related duties.
