Job Details
The Centre of Research in Cellular Biology of Montpellier (CRBM) is recruiting Junior/Senior Group Leaders to shape its research in the coming decade. The deadline for application is 31st of March, 2026.
Candidates are expected to develop a competitive research program exploring how internal cellular processes and external environmental cues shape cell behavior and function. Potential areas include stem cell maintenance and differentiation, tissue regeneration, metabolism, genotype-phenotype relationships, evolutionary cell biology, ecology, and organelle interactions. We are also looking for interdisciplinary approaches to understand cellular mechanisms via biophysics, mathematical modelling, and cutting-edge instrument development in imaging. Innovative proposals beyond these themes synergizing with the CRBM are also welcome.
Research at the CRBM spans 18 research groups covering a broad spectrum of topics including: cell division, cellular adhesion, post-translational modifications, signaling, structural bioinformatics, molecular modelling of gene regulation, cytoskeleton, lipid biology, genome stability, cancer biology, endosymbiosis, and evolutionary and developmental biology in multiple experimental systems. The CRBM covers the costs of user access to state-of-the-art light microscopy platforms at the Montpellier Ressources Imagerie (MRI). All other shared core facilities within BioCampus Montpellier are readily accessible at highly competitive rates, providing an exceptional and comprehensive environment to support cutting-edge research programs.
The CRBM is located on a multidisciplinary campus of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and affiliated to the University of Montpellier. It maintains strong collaborations with neighbouring Biology (CEMIPAI, IRIM, IGMM), Chemistry (ICGM, IBMM) and Ecology (CEFE) institutes. Montpellier hosts 75 internationally recognized research units and a large student community, and offers an exceptional quality of life with proximity to the Mediterranean sea, nearby mountains, and ~300 days of sunshine per year.
Applicants should upload by 31st of March the following documents as a single PDF file to
https://ipsos.sic.montp.cnrs.fr/index.php/124113?lang=en
(confirmation email will be sent upon receipt of application)
1. A cover letter (2 pages) explaining their accomplishments, motivation, and fit for the CRBM. They may also explain for consideration additional factors in their career not apparent from the other documents.
2. A full CV with a list of publications and the names/contact details of 3 references.
3. A summary of research accomplishment and research project for their group (5 pages in total, including figures but not including references).
Final interviews of shortlisted candidates will take place in Montpellier mid-June 2026.
The CRBM is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from any race, religion, gender and orientation and from people with disabilities.
We are happy to directly discuss with applicants for their fit and potential collaborations with CRBM groups (search-committee@crbm.cnrs.fr).
