Hands-on role supporting research, teaching, and farm operations across regenerative and energy-focused farm sites.
Mō te tūka | The role
This is a unique opportunity to work outdoors supporting innovative research and teaching at Lincoln University McCain Foods NextGen Regenerative Farm and the Lincoln University Energy Farm.
You'll be involved in crop and animal care, machinery maintenance, and field trial support, while helping foster a collaborative and safe working environment for staff and students. The role also contributes to field trials, data collection, and general farm operations in a collaborative, research-focused environment.
Some tasks of the role include:
- Set up and maintain crops, forages, and horticulture for research and teaching
- Support animal-related tasks and general farm operations
- Operate and maintain farm machinery, vehicles, and irrigation systems
- Carry out minor repairs and upkeep of infrastructure and equipment
- Assist with data collection, reporting, and administrative duties
- Mentor and support less experienced staff in daily farm activities
Permanent role, 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) at our Lincoln Campus. Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Kā tino Pūkenga/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role
You will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience
- Experience operating tractors, implements, quad bikes, and chainsaws
- Knowledge of cultivation, irrigation, and stock husbandry practices
- Confidence working with livestock and supporting field trials
- Strong data recording and computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.)
- A full NZ driver's licence and flexibility to work variable hours
- Alignment with Manaakitaka and Lincoln University values.
