Head Cheer Coach
Position Overview
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Head Cheer Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of an NCAA Division II cheer program, including the development, coaching, and management of all aspects of the program. This includes leading practices, strategizing for competition, promoting the student-athlete experience, and fostering a positive and competitive team culture. The Head Cheer Coach will recruit, train, and evaluate student-athletes, monitor student-athletes' academic achievement, and ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, and university policies. Additionally, the Head Cheer Coach will collaborate with other staff and departments to enhance the overall success of the program, provide guidance and mentorship to athletes, and build strong relationships with the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for game operations for on-campus team competitions.
- Recruiting and coaching of student-athletes
- Monitoring student-athletes' academic achievement
- Managing budget
- Coordinating travel arrangements for team competition
- Directing cheer camps
- Fund-Raising (Departmental and Program-specific)
- Program planning and forecasting
- Leadership development
- Managing social media accounts
- Managing cheer coaching and administrative staff members.
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and two years of demonstrated successful coaching experience required
- Master's degree and college head coaching experience preferred.
- Familiarity with the Lone Star Athletic Conference preferred
- A valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment is also required, as well as the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and road conditions.
