Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated security professional to join our team as the Head of Campus Safety. This pivotal role within Campus Services, part of the Directorate of Technology, Estates and Facilities (DTEF), You will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and security of our vibrant university community, including over 20,000 students, 4,000 staff, and numerous visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Campus Safety team
- Maintain campus safety across the Heslington campus, city centre facilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all security-related matters
- Develop and implement strategies for campus safety, including crime prevention and compliance with best practices and statutory requirements.
- Set and review KPIs and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for the Campus Safety team.
- Collaborate closely with senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Act as a specialist security advisor on policy and strategic developments.
- Manage communications and responses to potential, emerging, and developing incidents impacting the university’s security and safety.
- Lead strategic project management for large-scale campus events, such as arrivals, orientation, and graduation.
About You:
You will be an experienced security professional with a proven track record in leadership and operational management. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your expertise will ensure the highest levels of safety and security for our university community.
Key Requirements:
- Significant experience in a senior security management role, preferably within a large and complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of crime prevention, security policies, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic project management and incident management.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, fostering a culture of professionalism and customer focus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
