The Faculty of Social Sciences invites applications for the position of the Head of Department of Communication (at the rank of Professor, Distinguished Professor or Chair Professor).

The Department of Communication offers programmes at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including Bachelor of Social Sciences in Communication, Master of Arts in Communication and New Media, and PhD in Communication Studies. Programmes cover areas such as media studies, journalism, public relations, marketing, digital journalism, and creative media. Teaching expertise includes research in media and journalism, public relations, public communication, qualitative and quantitative media analysis, cultural studies, and intercultural communication. The Faculty seeks an internationally accomplished scholar to lead the Department. The appointment is at the rank of Professor, Distinguished Professor, or Chair Professor. Candidates should have a strong international research profile, a distinguished record of academic achievements, exceptional leadership and management skills, and strategic vision. Preference is for expertise relevant to Macao and the Greater China region. Requirements include: a PhD in communication or related fields; expertise in sub-disciplines like research methodology, journalism, advertising, public relations, new media, and/or international/intercultural communication; an outstanding record of research and scholarship; a proven record of excellent teaching; competence in management, planning, and communication; ability to lead the Department; and proficiency in English, with knowledge of Chinese or Portuguese as an advantage.

Remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The local maximum income tax rate is 12%, effectively 5%-7% after exemptions.
