Reporting to the Executive Dean, the new postholder will develop a clear and exciting vision for the department. Priorities for the role include: further building research capacity and performance; expanding into new growth areas; and encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will be expected to remain research-active and also to contribute to the delivery of taught provision within the College.
The ideal candidate will be an outstanding leader of people, who enjoys inspiring others to embrace change, and enabling each and every member of the department to grow. They will demonstrate strategic vision and some prior management experience. The new Head will be appointed to an underpinning Professorial role on a Teaching and Research career pathway: as such they will have a sustained record of high-quality research in a Computer Science discipline and well-established leadership skills, with a commitment to the delivery of high-quality education and student experience. The candidate will have had the opportunity to lead or contribute to sustainable change and will be sensitive to EDI considerations. They must have the experience and interpersonal skills to take a strong department to new heights.
