Job Description:
The Division of Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated and qualified candidate for a full-time Associate Research Scientist position. The ideal candidate will design and conduct experiments to test how depression-associated mutations in the receptor GPR156 alter brain circuits. They will lead studies using in vivo and optogenetic techniques in mice to determine the causal links between GPR156 mutations and depression-like behavior.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform behavioral analyses with mice.
- Use in vivo Ca2 imaging or in vivo physiology to record from the mouse brain during behavior.
- Responsible for developing and performing experiments and analysis strategies alongside other lab members, preparing results for presentations, writing manuscripts for publishing, and contributing to broader aspects of collaborative projects in the lab.
- Communicate with and mentor other lab members in the development and deployment of such assays, as well as foster any necessary collaborations.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- PhD or equivalent degree in Biology, Psychology, or Neuroscience. Candidates who have fulfilled all doctoral degree requirements but have yet to receive their degree will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
Preferred qualification:
- Extensive experience in behavioral analysis of mice.
- Experience in the collection and analysis of imaging or electrophysiological data collected during behavior.
- Proficiency with associated data analysis software platforms (GraphPad Prism, R, MatLab, etc.).
- A track record of working effectively across experimental and computational groups, as well as demonstrable previous collaborative success, is essential.
