Job Description Summary 

Nazareth University Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in leading our NCAA Division III program. The Assistant Coach will have a passion for the sport and a commitment to fostering the development of student-athletes both on and off the field.

Essential Functions 

Recruitment & Retention: Identify and recruit talented student-athletes who embody the university’s values and have the potential to succeed academically and athletically.

Coaching & Development: Assist in planning and conducting team practices, providing individual and group instruction, and developing game strategies.

Game-Day Preparation: Support all aspects of game-day operations, including scouting opponents, preparing game plans, and managing equipment and logistics.

Team Management: Enforce team and school policies, ensuring student-athletes adhere to NCAA Division III, Empire Eight Conference, and university regulations.

Community Engagement: Participate in fundraising, alumni relations, and community outreach activities to promote the program.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills 

Bachelor’s Degree

Prior coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills; proficiency with technology used in recruiting and coaching

Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills 

Master’s Degree

5+ years of coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level

Advanced knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; experience with video analysis software

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Overseeing student-athletes or grad assistants in the absence of the head coach

Physical Requirements 

Ability to stand for extended periods, engage in active movement, and lift equipment related to the sport
