Head of Student Analytics and Reporting

About the role

Are you an experienced reporting leader ready to shape the future of student analytics as our Head of Student Analytics and Reporting? This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of operational and management information reporting for student data, ensuring reporting is accurate, trusted, and aligned with strategic priorities. You will play a key role in advancing self-service analytics, improving data confidence, and delivering reporting solutions that support effective decision-making.

What you would be doing

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of student data reporting across Registry, Professional Services, and the wider university, using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to build and maintain high-quality reporting solutions
  • Engage with stakeholders across Registry, Professional Services, and academic departments to identify reporting needs, prioritise development requests, and ensure outputs are aligned with institutional priorities
  • Develop and deliver a Student Data Reporting Roadmap, translating prioritised stakeholder needs into a clear, structured plan for the ongoing development of reporting capability
  • Lead and develop the Analytics and Reporting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and best practice in reporting
  • Drive the rollout of self-service reporting, developing and delivering a structured plan that includes ongoing training and support to build confidence and data literacy across the university

What we are looking for

  • Experience of leading the development of operational and management information reporting ideally within higher education or a similar organisation
  • Hands-on technical expertise in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, including the design, development and maintenance of dataflows, datasets and reporting solutions
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise a reporting backlog, balancing competing demands and making transparent decisions about sequencing
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate business needs into clear deliverable reporting solutions
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interrogate reporting requirements and identify practical, scalable solutions
  • The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a complex organisation, including ICT, academic colleagues, and professional services teams

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to lead the development of student analytics and reporting that drives better decision-making and delivers real impact across the university.
  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
