The Role
The University of West London is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Practice Learning Lead in Pharmacy to play a central role in the development of its new School of Pharmacy. Working closely with the Head of Pharmacy, the University’s central placements team, course leadership and external practice partners, this is an important appointment for a pharmacist with a strong understanding of practice education and a clear commitment to high quality experiential learning. The role offers an excellent opportunity to help establish the systems, partnerships and quality processes that will underpin a successful and professionally credible pharmacy programme from the outset
The Person
We are seeking for individual who is energised by the practical work of building and sustaining placement capacity across a diverse regional health economy. The postholder will lead the development, coordination and quality assurance of pharmacy placements and workplace-based learning, helping to ensure that students benefit from well organised, well supported and educationally robust practice experiences. They will work across community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, primary care and other relevant sectors, identifying opportunities for growth, supporting placement providers, and ensuring that learning environments meet General Pharmaceutical Council and University expectations.
The postholder will make a substantial contribution to the wider student experience by supporting practice supervisors and tutors, preparing students for professional practice, and helping academic colleagues and partners respond to complex placement issues with consistency and care. The postholder will also have an important role in quality assurance, governance and accreditation readiness, contributing to evidence gathering, site engagement, action planning and the continuous improvement of experiential learning across the School.
We are looking for a professional with strong organisational ability and the interpersonal skills to work effectively across institutional and sector boundaries. This is an excellent opportunity for a registered pharmacist with experience in learner support and supervision to join UWL, to help build a modern, inclusive and high performing School.
