The Dean of the Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University announces a selection procedure for the position of Head of the Department of Physical Activities and Health Sciences (academic position)

The Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University is a dynamically developing faculty located in the modern premises of the University Campus in Brno-Bohunice. Our mission is to contribute through student education, scientific activity, and social engagement to a physically active and healthy life for all age and performance groups of the population, to the development of knowledge in the field of sports, and to respect for the rules of fair play in sports and in everyday life.

We are looking for a mature personality with a clear vision and strategic thinking to take over the leadership of one of our departments. We expect an experienced academic who can combine scientific, pedagogical, and social activities and actively participate in developing the department and the entire faculty. We aim to find someone who can inspire and motivate the team, support its professional growth, and bring innovative approaches to help fulfil the faculty's mission and move it forward.

Main activities:

• Ensuring the proper functioning and development of the department in accordance with the faculty's strategic plan – see FSpS Document Server (muni.cz),
• responsibility for the educational and scientific activities of the department and the achievement of the required outputs and results,
• responsibility for the performance of the so-called third role of the university,
• personnel management of the department (motivation, evaluation, and career growth of employees),
• responsibility for the management of entrusted funds and the economic management of the department (in cooperation with the faculty secretary),
• support for the development of scientific and research activities,
• close collaboration with the faculty management,
• own teaching and scientific research activities.

Requirements:

• university education, at least a PhD degree in the relevant field (according to the department's focus);
• excellent organisational and management skills,
• excellent communication skills,
• experience in managing a work team,
• relevant teaching and research activities (including international activities),
• excellent knowledge of the Czech language, advanced knowledge of English (min. B2).
