Director of the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University announces a selection procedure for the position:
Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology
Department of Radiation Oncology (DRO) is a therapeutic, educational and research clinic of the MMCI and the Faculty of Medicine of MU. KRO is currently the largest radiotherapy department in the Czech Republic. Annually, approximately 3 to 3.5 thousand cancer patients are treated with ionizing radiation at the clinic. The candidate for the position of a Department Head must be a respected expert in the field of radiation oncology, with experience of working in a multidisciplinary oncology team at a complex cancer centre and with expertise in pre-graduate and postgraduate education.
The Head of the DRO will be responsible for the management of the clinic, undergraduate medical education, doctoral studies, publishing and coordination of research conducted at the clinic. The Candidate for Department Head will present his/her idea of fulfilling the above during the selection process.
Requirements for a declared position:
- university education in general medicine or equivalent education acquired abroad,
- eligibility to pursue the profession of physician in the relevant field in accordance with Section 5 of Act No. 95/2004 Coll.,
- academic degree PhD or scientific rank of CSc.,
- an academic teaching rank of Associate Professor (Docent) or Professor within the meaning of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions, or the expectation of obtaining such a rank within a period of 3 years,
- at least 5 years of professional experience in the field at a healthcare provider that is part of a Comprehensive Cancer Centre,
- personal and professional prerequisites for managing a clinical healthcare and academic team,
- experience in teaching and readiness to guarantee (be responsible for) specialized courses delivered at the department,
- scientific and publication activity in the field,
- knowledge of the requirements set by the accreditation process of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) for Comprehensive Cancer Centres in the areas of radiation oncology, quality of care, research, and education,
- active command of the Czech (or Slovak) language and at least one world language (with preference for English),
- moral integrity and good civic character,
- fulfilment of prerequisites according to Act No. 451/1991 Coll. (the Lustration Act); does not have to document persons born after 1 December 1971 and applicants from abroad.
