Position Overview
The head coach provides leadership of the program through teaching, coaching, mentoring, character development, and recruiting high quality student-athletes. The head coach is also accountable for all aspects of a Division I sport program, including but not limited to: compliance, budget, scheduling, staff oversight, etc.
Responsibilities
- Establishing a positive team culture and promoting exceptional student-athlete experiences
- Evaluating and recruiting academically qualified and athletically talented student athletes
- Organizing and conducting team workouts and competition
- Arranging a Division I schedule and team travel
- Managing the operating and scholarship budgets
- Selecting and managing any assistant coaches
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years of coaching experience
- The ability to work effectively with student athletes, colleagues and the campus community.
- Thorough understanding of the rules and regulations related to Butler University, the Big East Conference and NCAA Division I
- Outstanding verbal communication and leadership skills.
