Health Occupations Instructor-Coordinator
Position Summary
The Health Occupations Instructor-Coordinator provides instruction, leadership, and oversight for Continuing Education programming related to healthcare. At least 40 hours per week are to be spent in the following: direct instruction; preparation and evaluation of instruction; clinical preparation; supply assessment and ordering, accessibility to students; committee assignments; addressing student concerns; advising and service to the college and community. responsible for instruction in the Health Occupations program area, specifically for NAI, NAII, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy Technician. Must be willing to become certified in Phlebotomy within 18 months of hire and Pharmacy Technician within 12 months of hire.
Required Education/Experience
- Must be a registered nurse with an unencumbered license.
- Must be licensed to practice in North Carolina
- Must have at least two (2) years (2000 hours) of experience as a registered nurse in the United States.
- Must meet at least one of the following: Completion of a course in teaching adults, Experience in teaching adults, or Experience in supervising nurse aides.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
- BSN from an accredited university.

- Computer skills including Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Word and Excel platforms
- Selecting activities, events, and/or programs; Analyzing processes and identifying improvements
- Monitoring and evaluating programs; Applying applicable standards, laws, rules, and regulations
- Preparing and maintaining records and reports
- Prioritizing and assigning work
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Successfully prepare, manage, and deliver course content in order to achieve course objectives, accommodate diverse learning styles, and meet student learning outcomes.
- Actively engage students and provide prompt feedback in an objective, respectful, and effective manner.
- Update, communicate and follow course syllabus content in accordance with directions provided and administrative guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the Colleges support services to identify and address the students academic support needs.
- Utilize College technology for the delivery of instruction and completion of operational processes; this includes but is not limited to the Colleges learning management system, email and calendaring solution, document management system(s), student information system, and employee portals.
- Meet deadlines, including maintaining and submitting accurate class records, employee records/requests, and other assigned tasks.
- When applicable, ensure laboratories are appropriately stocked with required supplies and equipment is in safe operating order.
- Support student mentoring, advising, registration and recruitment efforts, as appropriate or required.
- Participate in professional development opportunities (selected or assigned) in order to enhance and apply knowledge/skills within the discipline, to effectively utilize required course technology and College applications, and to maintain licensures (as applicable).
- Facilitate a positive, student-centered, and professional environment among students, faculty and staff.
- Participate in College meetings, events, and committees as appropriate or required.
- Attend and participate in the annual graduation ceremony.
