For Fall 2025, Reading Area Community College (RACC) is launching a new Polysomnography Certificate Program and is seeking a passionate and experienced Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) to join our adjunct faculty team. This one-year program is recognized by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as a Sleep Technology Approved Resource (STAR) Program and prepares students for entry-level roles in sleep medicine. Working Hours:

Flexible Schedule, include daytime and evening hours as required by the needs of the position. Specific work hours to be agreed upon by the supervisor and employee prior to the onset of employment. Position may require some travel to clinical sites. Employee must have ready-access to transportation.

Summary:

The Health Professions Instructor – Registered Polysomnographic Technologist reports to the Director of Respiratory Care. Instruction is provided through a combination of online learning and in-person classroom sessions. Instructors must be prepared to teach in both formats. The Instructor prepares students for entry-level roles in sleep medicine. This is a one-year program that is recognized by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as a Sleep Technology Approved Resource (STAR) Program. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the field while mentoring the next generation of sleep technologists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As an Instructor, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Respiratory Care to deliver high-quality instruction and hands-on learning experiences which include:

  • Teaching course content aligned with BRPT standards
  • Guiding students in the performance and analysis of polysomnographic tests
  • Overseeing lab activities and hands-on skills instruction
  • Preparing students for clinical practice and workplace success
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

Education Required:

Must hold one of the following credentials:

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (REEGT)
  • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with Sleep Disorder Specialist certification (RRT-SDS)

Industry Experience Required:

  • Minimum two years of experience working as a Polysomnography Technician
  • Strong knowledge of sleep study staging, scoring, and reporting
  • Experience with NATUS EEG equipment preferred

Teaching Experience Required:

  • At least one year of prior teaching or training experience
  • Experience teaching online or in hybrid formats (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Canvas Learning Management System (preferred, not required)
  • Evidence of effective instructional delivery and student support

Preferred:

  • Experience with NATUS EEG equipment
  • Experience teaching online or in hybrid formats
  • Familiarity with Canvas Learning Management System

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: (Must hold one of these currently)

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (REEGT)
  • Registered Sleep Technologist (RST)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with Sleep Disorder Specialist certification (RRT-SDS)

  • Excellent presentation skills

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet skills. Familiarity with Canvas Learning Management System preferred.

Communication Skills:

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
