- Lecturer with a Doctoral Degree: starting at the 34th salary grade (EUR 3.355,69 gross/month for full – time employment);

General description:
- Designing and updating the curriculum and teaching materials for language courses and adapting them to the requirements of specific university and higher education study programmes.
- Teaching language courses to students enrolled in undergraduate study programmes (language practice classes and seminars), postgraduate (Master's) study programmes, and other forms of teaching, including consultations and office hours.
- Preparing, administering, and assessing examinations and other forms of student assessment.
- Monitoring developments in the field and participating in national and international professional meetings and conferences.
- Contributing to other activities related to teaching and the discipline within and outside the University, including participation in academic title appointment procedures for lectors, participation in secondary school final examination (Matura) committees, transferring knowledge in the field of applied linguistics to teachers through continuing professional development and lifelong learning programmes, and contributing to the development of language education at lower levels of education.
- Ensuring a safe and healthy working and learning environment for employees and students of the organisational unit.
- Performing other duties that fall within the broader professional scope of the position.

Conditions for Filling the Position (Required Qualifications):
For the position of Lecturer:
- Pre-Bologna postgraduate specialisation in a language-related field; or
- Pre-Bologna university degree in a language-related field; or
- Second-cycle (Bologna) Master's degree in a language-related field.
For the position of Lecturer with a Master's Degree:
- Pre-Bologna postgraduate specialisation following a university degree; or
- Pre-Bologna Master of Science degree in a language-related field.
For the position of Language with a Doctoral Degree:
- Pre-Bologna Doctor of Science degree in a language-related field; or
- Third-cycle (Bologna) doctoral degree (PhD) in a language-related field.

A valid appointment to the title of Lector in the academic field of the English language. A candidate shall be deemed to meet this requirement if he or she holds:
- a valid academic title awarded by the University of Ljubljana;
- a valid title awarded by another institution and recognised by the University of Ljubljana through the title recognition procedure; or
- a valid title of Visiting Teacher at the University of Ljubljana.
- A candidate shall also be deemed to meet this requirement if he or she fulfils the minimum quantitative and qualitative criteria for appointment to the title in accordance with the Statute of the University of Ljubljana and the Criteria for the Appointment to the Titles of Higher Education Teachers, Researchers and Associates of the University of Ljubljana for the title of Lector in the field of English language.
In such cases, the application must be accompanied by:
- evidence demonstrating compliance with the quantitative and qualitative criteria for appointment to the title or for recognition of the title, in accordance with the applicable Criteria; and
- a signed statement confirming the candidate’s consent that, in the event of a favourable decision by the selection committee, the application may also be considered as an application for appointment to the title or for recognition of the title.
- The required title must be obtained or recognised before the employment contract is signed.
Functional knowledge (from the information sheet):
- Professional expertise and competence in language teaching methodology, strong presentation and communication skills, the ability to integrate and apply theoretical and methodological knowledge, and the ability to organise one’s own work as well as the work of colleagues.
- Proficiency in the Slovenian language.

- At least three years of relevant teaching practice and a minimum of three months' experience in appropriate language environment.
