Title HMS - Postdoctoral Fellow in Perrimon lab School Harvard Medical School Department/Area***Position Description We invite applicants for a postdoctoral fellow position in the Perrimon Lab at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. The Perrimon Lab focuses on functional genomics, systems biology, and the mechanisms by which cells, tissues, and organs communicate, using Drosophila as a model system. We welcome applications from recent PhD graduates who are interested in these or related fields, particularly those who may bring a new technology or perspective to bear on the work in the lab.
The successful candidate will work with Dr. Perrimon lab to develop an independent research project within the scope of the lab’s research focus. In addition to carrying out computational and bioinformatics research, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for fellowship funding, contribute to the writing of grants and manuscripts, participate in teaching and mentoring of lab members as needed, and otherwise contribute to overall lab operations and collaborative environment.
Principal Responsibilities include 1.) Design and implement reusable bioinformatics analysis pipelines for processing RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, genomics, and proteomics data. Develop novel algorithms and integrated data visualization applications when existing software packages are not available or are not adequate. 2.) Apply computational, statistical, and AI/ML approaches to uncover biological insights and support functional discovery by analyzing multi-omics datasets, eg., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and related datasets. 3.) Collaborate closely with the Investigator and lab members on research projects, including defining the scope of the collaboration, researching the scientific topics, and implementing the appropriate bioinformatics solutions that meet project timelines. Coordinate and collaborate with other bioinformaticians, biostatisticians, information technology professionals, and interdepartmental project teams.
