HMS - Postdoctoral Fellow in Systems Biology
Position Description
The Basan Lab is looking to hire a postdoctoral candidate who will study the role of condensates and phase separation for signal transduction as a function of biomass density with increasing cell confluence. We want to study how cells stop protein synthesis and the cell cycle as cell number density in a tissue increases. We have previously show that this increase in cell number coincides with an increase in cellular biomass density. This postdoc candidate will use a combination of microscopy, proteomics, genetic constructs, and in vitro reconstitution to study if these change in biomass density results in phase transitions in the cytoplasm and if these phase transitions are important in signaling transduction. The breakdown of these processes in cancerous cells has important implications for tumorigenesis.
