Facilities Services is a unit in the Campus Operations Division, which is a part of a broad division of Administration and Finance that includes all aspects of facilities management at ECU. ECU is the third largest university in the University of North Carolina system with approximately 28,000 full-time students and a staff of approximately 6,000. The university is comprised of 6.2 million square feet of facilities located on 1319 acres with $1.49 billion in physical assets. This includes the Main, Health Sciences, West Research Campuses, and satellite locations associated with university programs. Facilities Services has an annual budget in excess of $30 million and employs over 400 full-time employees. Major functions include facilities maintenance and housekeeping services.

Facilities Services primary purpose is to plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance functions on all building structures and equipment and utility infrastructure. Corrective maintenance returns equipment to optimal design performance after failure or upon degradation from age, adverse operation conditions, etc. Preventive maintenance minimizes equipment failures and reduces corrective maintenance.

Job Duties: Performs basic cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, and vacuuming. Fills dispensers with the correct product. Listens and responds to customers needs promptly and respectfully. Listens to directions and completes tasks. Mixes chemicals correctly and wears personal protective equipment. Normal work hours are Mon-Fri 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This position requires working a rotating weekend schedule with a 5-week cycle, meaning you will work every 5th weekend. Position may require overtime, evening hours, weekend hours.

Minimum Education/Experience: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Knowledge of cleaning procedures.
