Clean and maintain floors (dust mopping, wet mopping, spot
mopping, vacuuming)
Clean and sanitize restrooms, washrooms, and showers, including
all fixtures
Clean interior surfaces such as mirrors, pictures, glass
partitions, window ledges, and doors
Dust furniture, including desks, tables, chairs, and other
items as needed
Empty trash and recycling containers, removing all debris to
designated receptacles
Work collaboratively with team members to ensure all priority
areas are maintained to the high standards of Environmental
Services, especially during staff shortages
Strong safety mindset and attention to detail:
- Customer service orientation with students, faculty, staff, and
visitors
- Identify and report any defective equipment, necessary building
repairs, or safety hazards to ensure a safe environment for the
community
- Effective communication and teamwork in a diverse campus
community
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Required : High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred : Previous experience as a housekeeper or cleaner
in an institutional or commercial setting
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions to complete
tasks thoroughly and efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to work reliably and with minimal
supervision while maintaining a high level of performance
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Good time management and prioritization skills
- Knowledge of how to use and maintain basic cleaning tools and
equipment
Physical Requirements:
- Requires good health, physical strength, and agility to perform
all essential cleaning tasks
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs individually and 50 lbs
assisted
- Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, or stooping during the
workday
- Wear assigned PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection,
respirator as required)
Work Environment:
- Work may involve exposure to outdoor weather or heat depending
on the building assignment Mix of academic, residential, dining,
athletic, library, studio/lab (non-hazardous), office, warehouse,
and outdoor areas
- Seasonal demands (snow/ice response, summer deep cleans,
move-in/move-out, major events)
- Coordinate with Environmental Health & Safety for any
hazardous materials; work only within training/authorization
Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $17.50/hour.
Shift:
The schedule for this position is Mon - Fri 6:00am - 11:30am
