Housekeeping Worker - UREC
General Information
JMU Facilities Management is accepting applications for two full-time Housekeeping Workers in the University Recreation Center (UREC). Hours are Monday - Friday, 4:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays and some rotating on-call responsibilities.
UREC operates an award-winning, state-of-the-art recreation facility including an adventure center, wellness center, aquatics center, mediation/mindfulness space, and a wet/dry classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and auto scrubbers.
- Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use.
- Participate in the university's trash/recycling program.
- It is likely that staff will be moved on a regular basis, temporarily, to meet short-term business needs; such as summer cleans, special projects, shortages in other areas, etc.
Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform physically demanding job duties with or without an accommodation.
- Ability to work with industrial-strength chemicals and equipment including buffers, scrubbers, and waxers.
- Ability to clean materials containing bloodborne pathogens.
- Effective time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and basic customer service aptitude.
- Positive interpersonal skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team environment are essential.
Additional Considerations:
- Experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks.
