Housing Assistant

The Housing Assistant supports the Housing team in their operations throughout the year. This administrative position involves a variety of tasks, including forward-facing communications, file management, technology operation, physical movement, and note-taking. This position does not maintain a regular schedule but is called upon when support is needed.

A large portion of this role is to assist with the Student Storage program facilitated by Housing at Williams College on a temporary, as-needed basis. The Student Storage program is a seasonal program offered to Williams College students to store their items while they are away from campus for periods of time, including long breaks and/or studies abroad. Students' items are left in their rooms, and the Housing team works with an off-campus partner to move them to long-term storage. Before the students return to campus, the items are returned to the students' next room. Seasons for these operations occur mostly during business hours in our high-demand times of the year, including but not limited to late January, mid-May - early June, August, and mid-December. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities:

The Housing Assistant is a temporary position responsible for supporting the Housing team in facilitating student housing operations and implementing the Student Storage Program.

  • Maintaining files and records - both electronic and physical
  • Providing access to campus vendors to campus buildings and individual student rooms

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

You will thrive if you are self-motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic. Your ability to relate to diverse students and staff professionally is essential. This position does not require lifting or moving items beyond 20 lbs. but does require bending, climbing and descending stairs, walking, and standing for extended periods of time. Additionally, this position requires flexibility with scheduling.

Application review will occur on a rolling basis to build a pool of qualified persons. Pay is $18.00 per hour.
