Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

We're seeking a skilled HR professional to join our dynamic HR Operations & Recruitment team. This is your chance to play a vital role in delivering exceptional HR services that support our staff and advance our mission.

The post-holder will provide excellent HR administrative and advisory support for the delivery of a high-quality professional HR service to managers and staff across LSHTM, including administering LSHTM's central HR operational processes.

The HR Officer's responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Effective management and delivery of high-volume recruitment and selection activity across your designated Faculty
  • Managing employment administration and overseeing contract administration, UKVI processes, and employment-related correspondence with accuracy and efficiency
  • Providing expert guidance and advising managers and staff on recruitment best practice, UKVI/right to work requirements, family-friendly policies, probation, and fixed-term contracts

The post-holder will hold an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) or a CIPD level 5 qualification or equivalent significant HR professional experience. You will also have strong experience of managing high volume recruitment campaigns, providing proactive and responsive HR advice and a detailed working knowledge of UK immigration regulations. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and permanent. This role will be primarily office based at Tavistock Place, London (minimum 2 days per week working from the office). The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,984 - £45,728 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.

Applications should be made on-line via our jobs website. Online applications will be accepted by the automated system until 10pm of the closing date. Any queries regarding the application process may be addressed to jobs@lshtm.ac.uk. The supporting statement section should set out how your qualifications, experience and training meet each of the selection criteria. Please provide one or more paragraphs addressing each criterion. The supporting statement is an essential part of the selection process and thus a failure to provide this information will mean that the application will not be considered. An answer to any of the criteria such as "Please see attached CV" will not be considered acceptable. Please note that if you are shortlisted and are unable to attend on the interview date it may not be possible to offer you an alternative date. Interview date: Monday 3rd November 2025
