Human Resources Generalist

Reporting directly to the Vice President/Chief Human Resources Officer, the HR Generalist is a key partner supporting the full employee lifecycle, including talent sourcing and hiring, employee relations, organizational development, and compensation initiatives. Working closely with academic and administrative departments, this role helps advance strategic workforce priorities while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and engaging campus environment.

This full-time staff position has a standard schedule of 35 hours per week and is eligible for hybrid remote work. Characteristic Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
- Partner with hiring managers across academic and administrative departments to support full-cycle recruitment.
- Develop non-exempt and exempt position descriptions.
- Manage candidate communications.
- Promote equitable and inclusive hiring practices aligned with the College’s commitment to inclusive excellence.
- Track recruitment metrics and recommend strategies to enhance candidate experience and hiring outcomes.
- Collaborate with HR Coordinators to support recruiting operations, prepare offer letters, and maintain recruitment reports.
Employee Relations & Workplace Culture
- Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
- Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors on employee relations best practices.
- Support documentation and investigation of employee relations matters as needed.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
Organizational Development & Employee Engagement
- Support initiatives related to employee engagement, performance management, leadership development, and career growth.
- Assist departments with workforce and succession planning.
- Develop and deliver presentations such as new employee orientation and professional development training programs.
- Support performance evaluation processes and goal-setting frameworks.
Compensation & Workforce Analytics
- Support compensation administration, including salary benchmarking, job classification, and internal equity analysis.
- Assist with compensation review processes and related reporting.
- Partner with HR leadership to ensure compensation practices remain competitive within higher education.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Maintain applicant & employee data and HR processes within Workday.
- Generate reports and analyze workforce data to inform HR decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and College employment regulations/ policies.
- Contribute to HR initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years progressive HR Generalist experience.
- Demonstrated experience with staffing, employee relations, and compensation.
- Knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws.
- Ability to work collaboratively with HR team members, faculty, staff, and students.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to exercise and maintain discretion, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
- Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.
- Professional certification such as SHRM-CP, CCP, or PHR preferred.
- Higher Ed and Workday experience preferred.
