The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is a vital member of the Division of Human Resources, reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources. This role is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of HR support and expertise, including talent acquisition and management, records retention, performance management, training and orientation, and employee relations. The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in resolving various HR-related issues across the college.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Develop, design and facilitate the orientation program.
- Implement strategies to create a positive and memorable onboarding experience and periodically gather feedback to refine and improve the orientation program and employee experience.
- Support and guide recruitment and hiring efforts, including job postings, selection processes, and ensuring compliance with all requirements.
- Train and audit appropriate personnel in I-9 completion and background check process.
- Provide expertise across a broad range of HR activities, including recruitment, compensation, benefits administration, performance management, talent development, employment transactions, policy compliance, and other related HR functions.
- Advise management on adherence to federal, state, and local laws, as well as institutional policies and procedures; identify innovative solutions to complex HR issues.
- Act as a liaison between management and employees, addressing questions, interpreting contracts, and resolving work-related issues.
- Conduct investigations as required and compose written correspondence.
- Handle complex staffing duties, including managing understaffing, mediating disputes, handling involuntary departures, and administering disciplinary actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of College policies, processes, and resources.
- Create, review and submit personnel transactions within Oracle.
- Review and verify documentation for completeness, accuracy, and policy compliance.
- Process and maintain employee information in the HRIS system promptly, ensuring accurate and current records.
- Assist with projects aimed at enhancing the quality of HR services and participate in the planning, development, and modification of HR programs to meet the College's needs.
- Manage workflow and prioritize tasks to meet both internal and external expectations, adapting to shifting business needs and priorities.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and delivering training on HR policies and procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Knowledgeable in human resources principles, practices, and processes.
- Adept at making administrative decisions on sensitive and confidential matters.
- Familiar with current federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Competent in preparing and delivering training programs and materials.
- Proficient in analyzing complex information, identifying problems, and devising effective solutions
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Three (3) years of experience in Human Resources with demonstrated proficiency in talent acquisition and employee relations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in talent acquisition and employee relations.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge and experience with Oracle Human Resources modules.
- Certifications: SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sedentary work: Lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20lbs. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time and occasionally walking and standing.
