Human Resources Specialist 2 - Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
This position performs advanced personnel administrative functions in the areas of recruitment, selection, onboarding, orientation, benefits administration, leave of absence management, and workers compensation administration, and serves as college's designated department insurance representative (DDIR). The position also coordinates salary placement for staff and manages faculty credentialing. The HR Specialist 2 collaborates with internal clients including administrators, supervisors, and employees to provide resources, guidance, and consultative services within human resources areas. This position administers all bargaining unit contracts and plans by providing employee and labor relations advice. Develops and monitors efficient Human Resources processes and procedures and partners with division leaders to assess and monitor progress toward attaining strategic goals and objectives. The position reports to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources (AVP of HR) and is considered confidential defined by M.S. 13.37.
Salary Range:
$28.26 - $41.43
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree and two years of human resources experience; OR Four years of professional human resources work or related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Experience with recruiting, onboarding, salary placement, and benefits administration.
- Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and personnel procedures sufficient to advise and ensure compliance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures and manage confidential information.
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated problem-solving & decision-making skills necessary to independently perform the duties of the position.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, public policy or similar OR two years para-professional experience performing HR work in selection, or transactions relating to employment and staffing.
- Experience with benefits programs within Minnesota State or State of Minnesota.
- Experience coordinating leaves of absence and workers compensation.
- Knowledge of State of Minnesota or Minnesota State policies and procedures, personnel rules, various collective bargaining agreements and personnel plans.
- Experience working in a unionized environment and interpreting collective bargaining agreements.
- Experience with the MN Data Practices Act.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
7:30am - 4:00pm / Monday-Friday
Telework
Hybrid 1-2 days per week after successful completion of the 6 months probationary period
