HVAC Controls Mechanic
Position Summary
The HVAC Controls Mechanic performs operations as required by job work order and/or blueprint or diagram in preventive maintenance, operation, and repair to various types of boiler and refrigeration plant equipment used in building heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Responsibilities
- Must be experienced in repair and maintenance of all types of pumps (centrifugal, rotary, positive displacement, submersible, turbine, and reciprocating), handling water, condensate, and steam.
- Shall be capable of repairing or replacing bearings, bushings, impellers, shafts, couplings, packing, drive belts, and sheaves without direct supervision.
- Shall be able to repair or fabricate parts using standard machine shop tools.
- Shall be able to troubleshoot, service, and perform preventive maintenance on fans, all types of pneumatic and electro pneumatic building systems computer control interfaces.
- In accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement, may be required to respond to emergencies on a 24 hour basis and work overtime.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Four years trade school required or equivalent in combination of education and experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Other Requirements
- Must have a minimum of two years technical training in HVAC field and two years of experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of all control systems. A total of six years of experience in HVAC required
