HVAC Mechanic (Saturday - Wednesday, 4pm - 12:30am) RDO: Thursday-Friday
Job Summary
Under the supervision of Facilities Managers responsible for the coordination and accomplishment of plant maintenance and operation work, perform the duties peculiar to, and normally required of, the trade of HVAC/refrigeration technician following recognized procedures and techniques of such work.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Routine servicing and installation of heating, ventilating and cooling/refrigeration equipment systems and components, including: compressors, valves, coils, cooling towers, heat pumps, motors, belts, bearings, fans, filters, wiring, control systems.
- Performs routine and emergency repairs to same, as well preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components, pneumatic controls and electric controls.
- Interprets engineering drawings and equipment manuals to heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and component parts.
- Performs replacement of major and minor parts, components, or entire systems.
- Sets and maintains equipment operating schedules.
- Performs overhauls on major equipment components.
- Provides recommendations regarding systems maintenance and repair.
- Supervises helpers, apprentices, or journey mechanics when they assist with repairs.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Hours of Work
Normal hours are Saturday - Wednesday, 4pm - 12:30am, with Thursday-Friday as regular days off. Occasional overtime. Occasional holiday work. After hours calls for emergency repair work.
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications
- Trade or vocational school graduate
- Minimum of three to five years' experience in HVAC work
- Candidate must have a valid New York City refrigeration license at time of appointment or selection.
- Ability to work indoors in cramped, crowded spaces, usually not air conditioned
- Ability to work outside in all kinds of weather, at ground level and on roofs.
- Ability to lift, carry, push and pull a variety of tools, equipment and material
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch to gain access to pipes, wiring and equipment
- Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools
- Excellent vision; near-visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision, color perception.
- Must have a valid New York refrigeration license at time of appointment or selection.
Pay Rate
$43.64/hr regular rate - $39.28/hr probationary rate
